Friends!
We have once again joined forces with the leading naval multiplayer game, World of Warships, for our new single and music video, “Yamato! Listen to our new song NOW!
Our music video for “Yamato” was filmed in Belgrade, Serbia last October. It unfolds aboard the Japanese battleship Yamato in her final moments before descending into the deep, taking us down with her. During the final battle, we fight waves, struggling to remain standing on the ship’s deck!
The video was filmed in a studio, where a set resembling a ship’s deck was built. Mechanics were installed to mimic the movement of a ship at sea. What the crew pulled off was seriously impressive.
Watch it here when it drops at 4pm CET / 11am ET / 8am PT. Don’t miss the premiere!
ABOUT “YAMATO”
Yamato was Japan’s pride. She was a giant battleship built in secret and launched in 1941 as the most powerful of its kind. This vessel was meant to dominate naval battles, but as aircraft carriers took over the seas, Yamato mostly served as a floating symbol of strength. In 1945, she was sent on a near-impossible mission to defend Okinawa. Outnumbered and under constant air attack, she fought on until she was finally sunk in a huge explosion, going down fighting to the very end.
The historical topic of Yamato has been on our radar for a while now, especially as it has been requested countless times by fans. Given our love for epic warship stories, we simply couldn’t resist! This song is not part of the “Legends” album, however, there is no doubt that based on the Sabaton rulebook of what defines a legend, Yamato definitely meets the criteria!
“Battleships are interesting and naval stories have, from time to time, been part of the Sabaton lore. ‘Bismarck’ was an exciting story for us to share and a fan favourite, and ‘Yamato’ is sort of a follow-up to that song. Our former guitarist, Tommy, wrote this song while he was still in the band. We only ‘Thobbefied’ it after guitar duties were returned to Thobbe.”

“For ‘Yamato‘, World of Warships allowed us to be deeply involved in the creative process of both the music video and the design of the Sabaton-branded in-game ship, as well as the hundreds of vocal lines recorded by me and Joakim. Many people are aware about the collaborations between Wargaming’s titles and Sabaton, and know that there’s a natural crossover between both audiences and the people behind the band and the games.”
