You Can Now Watch the Best Horror Movie of the Year at Home

Some of the most iconic horror movies come out of the zombie sub-genre. Over the years, fans have gotten amazing zombie movies like Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Shaun of the Dead, Zombieland, World War Z, Land of the Dead, and many more. But none has proven as influential as Danny Boyle’s 28 Days Later, starring Cillian Murphy. The movie became a franchise with the success of its sequel, 28 Weeks Later, and has seen a resurgence recently as the long-awaited third installment took the world by storm.

28 Years Later saw Boyle and the original writer, Alex Garland, returning to give us another blockbuster. With the constant evolution of the rage virus and England’s isolation, the movie made a strong impression on audiences and critics. Owing to its impressive editing pattern, visual language, and a very innocent story at heart. The success of the 88 percent Rotten Tomatoes-rated movie was immediately followed by 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, which performed even better with critics.

The great thing about The Bone Temple is the fact that it’s not a cash grab but a demand of its predecessor’s narrative. With talents like Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell, and young newcomer Alfie Williams, the feature is a worthy entry in the franchise, taking an empathetic turn towards the infected of the rage virus. However, it did not get a great response at the box office. That said, fans who missed the Nia DaCosta-directed feature in theatres can catch up now on digital. 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple is out on digital now, available to buy or rent through platforms like Prime Video.

Is ’28 Years Later: The Bone Temple’ Worth Your Time?

Yes. It’s a compelling entry in the franchise, outshining other movies by finding compassion even in dark times. Collider’s Ross Bonaime writes in his review. “Nia DaCosta and Alex Garland have set the bar high with what could easily be the best horror film of 2026, taking a genre that we’ve seen time and time again and breathing new life into it by focusing on the goodness and charity within humanity right until the film’s very last frame. 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple is a stunning movie that continues to solidify the franchise’s legacy as one of the best zombie stories to ever hit theaters.”
