The runway came alive at Nova Southeastern University as young designers proved sustainability can be stylish.
The Young At Art Museum hosted its 19th annual “Recycled Fashion Show,” where students transformed everyday materials like plastic, cardboard and other discarded items into bold, runway-ready looks.
The event is about more than just fashion. It blends creativity with purpose, raising money for arts programs that support low-income families and at-risk teens.
Designers between the ages of 13 and 18 not only created their pieces, but also styled and showcased them on the runway, bringing their visions to life in front of a live audience.
After a night filled with creativity and confidence, one standout design took the top honor.
The show also featured a familiar face.
NBC6 anchor Cherney Amhara served as this year’s emcee, helping guide the audience through the evening of fashion and impact.
The night ended with even more opportunities for these young creatives. Six student designers each received $1,000 scholarships toward fashion courses.
It’s a powerful reminder that the next generation of designers isn’t waiting for the future; they’re already making an impact.
