Canon Firmware Update for the EOS C400, C80, C70, C50, and R5C
Available in Summer 2026, Canon has announced multiple new firmware updates for the EOS C400, C80, C70, C50, and R5C. Here is what you can expect:
- Improvement in live production power: on the heels of the CINE-SERVO 40-1200mm T5.0-10.8 lens announcement, the EOS C400 will now support Auto Exposure Ramping Compensation to overcome iris ramping and compensate for light loss during zooms.
- Remote operation enhanced connectivity: for the EOS C400, C80, and C50 cameras, a new USB control protocol enables remote control of Start/Stop recording, iris, shutter, ISO, and focus functions.
- Improved SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) workflows now feature auto-reconnection when a streaming signal is momentarily lost.
- Enhanced user interface: a new “Level” display on select camera models changes color when the camera is perfectly leveled, speeding up setup for gimbal and tripod work.

As mentioned before, all of these firmware updates should be available for free this summer.
