WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Families with young children are invited to explore science in a fun, hands-on way during an upcoming event at The Children’s Museum of Wilmington.

“Science At Play” will take place on Saturday, April 18 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., offering a morning of interactive activities designed to spark curiosity in even the youngest learners. The event is part of the statewide NC Science Festival, which highlights the theme “Science Matters” this year.

Organizers say the event will feature a variety of hands-on experiences, including experimenting with slime and other sensory materials, building a collaborative city, and exploring the science of the human body. The museum will also remain open for regular exhibits during the event.

Several special guests are expected to participate, including engineers from the North American Young Generation in Nuclear, robotics demonstrations from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Department of Computer Science, and a visit from Hip Hop M.D., who will share his book Zombie Spiders & Asteroid Blasters.

The event aims to show families how science plays a role in everyday life while making learning engaging and accessible for children.

Admission is $5 for museum members and $15 for general admission.
