BEND, Ore. — Central Oregon Community College will host its annual Earth Day fashion show Friday night, raising money for Clothing Connection while promoting sustainable shopping and expanded access to free clothing for students.
Clothing Connection store provides free clothing to students at COCC and OSU-Cascades. It recently expanded its offerings to include winter gear, shoes and accessories.
“The past fashion shows are a great opportunity for not only OSU and COCC to come together and celebrate this resource and the students that access, but also to promote this idea of sustainable shopping. Because we know fast fashion has a very negative impact on our planet and this is a wonderful way to gently use resources and encourage us all to reuse things and not put things in the landfill,” COCC faculty member Angie Cole said.
The event starts at 4:30 p.m with a pop-up shopping event featuring local secondhand and upcycling vendors, according to COCC. Then at 6:00 p.m., guests learn about the history of Clothing Connection and sustainable fashion while enjoying a fashion show.
