The NBA announced Monday that James has been named Western Conference Player of the Week for Week 25 of the 2025-26 season, a recognition that comes at a pivotal moment for the Los Angeles Lakers as they prepare for the postseason without two of their top playmakers.
James averaged 24.0 points, 9.7 assists and 6.0 rebounds while leading the Lakers to a 3-1 record to close the regular season — production that underscored his ability to shift roles yet again amid injuries to Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves.
“Trying to make plays, I had to tap back into a role I’ve been accustomed to in the past,” James said. “Circumstances have put me back in trying to feed off my teammates, teammates feeding off of me, and just trying to make things happen for us.”
