The Ohio Casino Control Commission is making a move to potentially fine KalshiEX LLC, operating as Kalshi, issuing a “notice of intent to impose a civil penalty or monetary fine” for $5 million.

This notice of intent is being issued after Kalshi allegedly continued to operate unlicensed sports gaming in Ohio.

“Kalshi’s refusal to stop offering sports gaming in Ohio necessitated the Commission to take action to uphold the requirements of Ohio law,” as stated in a release outlining the notice of intent.

According to a letter sent to Kalshi from the Ohio Casino Control Commission, Kalshi offers “sports event contracts” that allow Ohioans to place bets on the outcome of games as wins and losses, and can wager a sum of money for a potential payout if they guess correctly on an outcome.
