Pedro Pascal has stepped into a new role as the new House Ambassador for Chanel, honoring the French Luxury house’s legacy, while signaling a new era for a brand that has historically catered to women.
The announcement was published on Instagram, with a playful video of Pascal watering a vintage Photo Booth and taking photos making quirky faces and subtle moves, with the caption simply stating “Je t’aime @matthieu_blazy.
A partnership between the luxury brand and Pascal was set in motion earlier this year. During the Oscar’s Awards ceremony, Pascal arrived in a pearl buttoned tuxedo top (without the Jacket) and an oversized chrysanthemum flower brooch and black trousers. A look that Pascal himself says “doesn’t take itself too seriously.”
Under the direction of Creative Director, Matthieu Blazy, Chanel has undergone subtle, but notable shifts since Blazy’s appointment in 2024. The brand, originally developed to cater to women’s taste for elegant dress in the early 19th century, is embracing a more democratic and fluid approach to style. Recent runway shows are expanding to more community centered spaces (the NYC Subway), ethereal styles and less rigidity, to embracing a more diverse range of models.
Pascal’s sister, Lux, even walked Matthieu Blazy’s inaugural Chanel runway show last Fall.
This subtle reorientation has not gone unnoticed for Pascal, who stated, “I love Matthieu’s vision, which I find powerful, elegant and incredibly warm. It shows me how we could exist together; there’s something for everyone in his universe. I am happy and honored to join it and I am eager to see what Matthieu has planned for the future of Chanel. The house has a remarkable ability to honor its heritage while remaining modern and relevant, and I am excited to be part of that evolving story.”
Blazy is embracing Pascal’s unique attributes, and welcomes the Chilean actor to the Chanel family, stating, “Pedro is a wonderful man and an incredible actor. His kindness, talent and his vision of the world are both inviting and inspiring. We are thrilled to welcome him to the Chanel family and I’m happy to embark on this adventure together.”
