Today Sony is bringing a open-back style headset to its gaming lineup called the H6 Air. Open back headphones are known for giving you a more natural and accurate sound as they are free of noise cancelling, a tighter seal, and give more bass as known with closed back headphones.
Sony has driver units modeled these after their reference open-back headphones MDR-MV1 which are very popular in the space. They are lightweight at just 199g and are compromised of premium aluminum. This makes them the lightest gaming headsets that Sony has created. Headband is also similar to its INZONE H9 II that we reviewed last year with its spring hinge.
Developed with sound designers from PlayStation Studios at Sony Interactive Entertainment, who produce audio for PlayStation games, Sony has created the “RPG/Adventure” equalizer profile. Tuned specifically for Role Play Game (RPG) and adventure games, it enhances clarity, depth, and environmental detail to better reflect how the audio is intended to be heard. This can be accessed by connecting to INZONE Hub via the USB-C Audio Box, which also offers virtual 7.1ch surround sound with 360 Spatial Sound for Gaming.
The INZONE H6 Air also features an adjustable cardioid mic for a clear, natural voice capture. The cardioid boom mic focuses on voice and is angled towards the user’s mouth to eliminate side noise, while its flexible arm stays securely in place
