The trio Ember — consisting of harpist Emily Levin, violinist Julia Choi and cellist Christine Lamprea — released their debut album “Birds of Paradise” last September.
The album contains French composer and harpist Henriette Renié’s “Trio for Harp, Violin & Cello in B-Flat Major,” as well as works from contemporary composers Angélica Negrón and Reena Esmail.

The group seamlessly transitions between the more traditional work of Renié and pieces from modern composers Negrón and Esmail, showcasing their range. The title piece comes from Negrón’s “Ave del paraíso,” and serves as the world premiere recording of the piece. It includes delicate instrumentals and field recordings of birdsong, making it a standout.
When announcing the album, Ember told Jensen Artists: “‘Birds of Paradise’ celebrates the artistic voices of women as both performers and creators. Listeners are invited to experience this dynamic sound world, full of color and warmth, created and performed by women.”
