LAS VEGAS – Milly Alcock told the crowd at CinemaCon that she learned five fictional languages in order to play Kara Zor-El, also known as Supergirl.
She called playing Zor-El “incredibly transformative for me, not only personally but professionally.”
Alcock also revealed that there was no canine actor for Supergirl’s superdog and friend, Krypto. “It’s movie magic, guys,” she said.
At the convention of movie theater owners and studios on April 14, Warner Bros. previewed film footage that showed Zor El on a ship that gets raided by pirates. The action-packed scene sees Supergirl’s powers kick in. “She’s flying toward the sun,” an unnamed character exclaims.
Supergirl calls her cousin Superman, who is reprised by David Corenswet, a “nerd” in the footage. “He sees the good in everyone, I see the truth,” she adds.

USA TODAY previously reported that the movie will follow Supergirl’s three-day mission to obtain a cure for Krypto, who is poisoned by villainous alien Krem of the Yellow Hills, played by Matthias Schoenaerts.
“My dog’s dying so I don’t really have time for this,” Zor El said in the extended look.
DC star Jason Momoa entered the stage on Lobo’s motorcycle and said it was the comic he collected in his youth. “I feel like the 8-year-old, 12-year-old me is freaking out,” Momoa said.
He dodged a question on who would win in a fight between Lobo and Aquaman, saying: “To be honest, they’d probably take one look at each other and have a few hundred beers.”
DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran joked that a movie about the superhero interaction would land in theaters in 2031.
The DC Studios portion of the event had a brief preview of “Clayface” and introduced the Tom Rhys Harries character’s journey to becoming the titular Batman villain.
Safran noted that filming for “Superman: Man of Tomorrow” will begin next week and the studio included the film in a slide announcing its releases for “2027 and beyond” at the end of the event.
The long-awaited “The Batman: Part II” also appeared on the future release slide.
