Quiana Hayes is leveraging her fashion experience to build a club unlike any other on campus. Whether you’re someone who loves high-end couture, DIY fashion, or thrift store finds, this club is an outlet for creativity and self-expression. People of all skill levels and backgrounds are welcome to join the LSUS Fashion Club, making fashion design accessible and creating a space for models, designers, and fashion lovers of all kinds.

Activity and Events
Members of this growing fashion club will get community access to workshops and events, which they can play a part in shaping. Even Quiana stated, “I kind of want to wait and see what people want to learn, that way we can do that.” However, thrift store trips, fashion workshops, and even fashion modeling shows are being planned.
Hidden thrifting gems such as Fab Finds or hole-in-the-wall stores like Simply 10 are all on the itinerary, allowing designers to find inspiration and one-of-a-kind pieces. Then there are the fashion workshops that are still being developed. This will provide small-scale projects to learn new skills like embroidery, making earrings, and even designing handbags from recycled fabric. Lastly, there is the hope of hosting future fashion shows where students get the opportunity to showcase their personal style and creations on the runway.
Looking Forward
When asked about what the future could look like, Quiana mentioned a passion project which could benefit all students at LSUS, the Pilot’s Closet. This would be a dedicated place on campus, much like the Pilot’s Pantry, but instead of food, students could exchange or donate clothes and leave with only what they want or need. This would provide students with the opportunity to access items they need without the price tag of buying new clothes and promote sustainability by encouraging the reuse and recycling of clothing. We all need clothes, so making the Pilot’s Closet and Fashion Club a reality means creating accessibility and a space for creativity.
